Liberty-oriented Cases

It seems that our civil liberties are being taken away left and right - by the so-called "Left" and "Right." The stories come at us nearly every day.

Some of those stories are local in nature like a SWAT team terrorizing a family over suspicion of a non-violent crime (assuming the SWAT team breaks into the correct house to begin with) or a town installing surveillance cameras on every street corner. Some of the stories are national in nature like the NSA spying on and collecting data from every American (and then sharing that information with the DEA and IRS), the TSA conducting intrusive and suspicionless searches of travelers, or the government claiming the legal authority to assassinate U.S. citizens by drone and without a trial.

Like many Americans, I am deeply disturbed by these news stories and trends. For that reason, I have decided to use my skills as an attorney to help fight to restore and defend our fundamental liberties. While we certainly must fight through the legislature, we must also do so through the courts.

Therefore, if you believe you have a liberty-oriented case, I encourage you to contact me. These types of cases often require creative approaches and sometimes deal with complex and novel issues. I will work with you to come up with an approach that is consistent with your goals.

"Liberty-oriented" is obviously a broad term, and I will not narrow it, but some issues that come to mind include:
  • Police misconduct
  • Police use of excessive force, including the use of SWAT teams
  • Misconduct by government agencies like the NSA, TSA, IRS, and DHS
  • Attacks on fundamental rights including
          - free speech
          - freedom of religion and association
          - the right to keep and bear arms
          - protections against unreasonable searches and seizures
          - privacy rights
  • Local governments overstepping their authority
  • Any other liberty-oriented cause
If you have a type of case listed above or any other case you believe is liberty-oriented, please contact my office at (614) 604-8759 for a free phone consultation.

Note: As of January 1, 2015, I have joined Markovits, Stock & DeMarco as Of Counsel. I am still available to assist you with any civil liberties issues you may have. My direct number is 614-604-8759.
